WHEN TO TRAVEL
The average temperatures in Jamaica are much like that of most of the Caribbean, Jamaica’s with average temperatures hovering around 85. The hottest months are in July and August where warm days can reach into the 90’s. The island is at it coolest in the months in January and February and temperatures have been known to dip into the high 70.s. and even cooler in the higher altitudes. Wearing a jacket in the evenings have not been unheard of for this time of year.
So if you plan to travel during these months, it might be a good idea to have one handy just in case. Jamaica’s rainiest seasons are in the months of May and June, and then again in October and November, but even during these months rain showers and storms pass quickly allowing the once again to shine. However, rainfall can very significantly from one side of the island to the other. The eastern side of the island known as the windward coast will receive substantially more rain than the southwestern coast of Jamaica and almost appears barren in contrast to the eastern side of the island. For the most part when it does rain in Jamaica, showers are short, heavy and followed by sunshine.
